Buyout Buying the controlling shareholding of a company to take over its assets and business. A buyout can be made through negotiations or through ACCUMULATION of shares from the stock market or purchase of shares of a major shareholders. When money is borrowed from financial institutions to finance the purchase it is called a leveraged buyout, in which case the loan is repaid from cash generated by the company’s business or from the sale of its assets.
