Companies Act 1956 Comprehensive legislation on the structure, financing and operations of Indian companies. The Act cover: types of limited companies; their capital structure; share capital; issue of shares at a premium, or in rare cases, at a discount; forfeiture of shares; rights shares; bonus shares; transfer of shares; listing requirements of shares; rights of shareholders; dividends; reserves; and liquidation of a company. The Act has been amended form time to time, last in 1988.
