Credit Rating Agencies There are three at present: CRISIL, which pioneered the concept of credit rating in India, (see separate entry, also CREDIT RATING); Investment Information and Credit Rating Agency of India Ltd (ICRA), set up in 1990 by the Industrial Finance Corporation of India; and Credit Analysis and Research Evaluation Centre (CARE), promoted by IDBI in 1993; all approved by the Reserve Bank of India.
