Dartboard Investing The strategy of investing in randomly selected shares in the belief that this will do no worse, perhaps better, than shares carefully selected after technical or fundamental analysis. Originally tested out by a group of people in Forbes magazine in New York in 1967, who tacked a page of stock market quotations on the wall and threw darts at the share prices. They picked all the twenty-eight shares the darts had hit and notionally invested equal amounts in each. Fifteen years later their investments had far outperformed the stock market average of appreciation. See also RANDOM WALK theory.
