Devaluation Lowering of the value of one country’s currency against the exchange rate of another country’s currency. The devalued currency sells at a higher rate of exchange and buys proportionately less. Devaluation increases exports, as the other country finds the devalued country’s goods cheaper, and makes imports costlier, influencing a country’s trade and industry noticeably and affecting the stock market.
