Forced Auction If a stock market operators buys a number of shares, usually large, and fails to pay for them, for whatever reason – he may have become insolvent, he may have been arrested for some scam, or he simply may have overreached himself – the stock exchange authorities may be forced to auction his purchases and adjust the losses against the margin money to his credit.
