Listed Shares Shares of companies which are registered by a stock exchange for trading on its floor. They have a quotation on the official list of the stock exchange. Listed shares have the following advantages: (1) They are traded in the stock exchange, which is a fair market place. (2) They are liquid. (3) The price is determined fairly. (4) There is continuous reporting of their prices. (5) Full information is available on the companies. (6) There are strict regulations for the protection of those how buy and sell shares on the stock exchange.
A share may belisted on more than one stock exchange. Also, a share may be listed, but very infrequently or not at all traded (e.g., of closely held companies)
