Mastershares Unit Trust of India’s (UTI) close – end MUTUAL FUND launched in September 1986 with an initial capital of Rs 150 crore made up of 15 crore shares of RS 10 each; the MARKET LOT being 100 shares. A further Rs 90 crore was raised in 1989 on RIGHTS basis (1:2), at a premium of Rs 2 per share. Mastershares are listed on all major stock exchanges. With over 4.5 lakh shareholders, and share valued at Rs 500 crore in May 1989, it is easily a dominant actor in the Indian stock market.
