Ramping Large – scale buying of a stock from the market with the object of boosting the image of the stock and the company behind it to increase its demand and consequently it price. If the price rises, the ramper sells his holding and makes a quick getaway from the market. This strategy is also sometimes adopted to boost a share’s price artificially before a public or rights issue with a hefty premium.
