Settlement Date In a spot delivery contract the delivery of share certificates and payment for them have to be concluded on the same day or the next day. In hand delivery contracts the delivery and payment have to be made on an agreed date, not exceeding a fortnight from the date of contract. In practice, however, the settlement date is every alternate Friday.
