Diversifiable Risk Risk unique to a firm or industry, which is not systematically related to the stock market in general. Labour strikes, management errors, new competition, changes in consumer preference cause variability of returns. Since these unsystematicvariations are independent of factors affecting other industries and the stock market in general, these can be averaged together and diversified away be careful portfolio planning.
