Draining Reserves

Draining Reserves Measure taken by the central bank of the country to reduce money supply by restricting the ability of he country’s banks to lend. This is done by (a) raising the banks’ reserve requirements. (b) increasing the borrowing rate for banks, and (c) floating bonds in the open market at such attractive rates that money which would have gone to the banks goes to buy bonds.
