Secured Debt

Secured Debt A debt instrument, like a bond or a debenture, whose principal amount has been secured by the issuer by setting aside certain tangible assets as collateral. If the issuer is in default the creditors can lay claim to the assets. Fixed deposits with companies are unsecured.
